In 1985 legislation was passed to bring a boost to the residential construction industry with a goal to stimulate the property investment industry and reduce the amount of rental shortage in Australia. This piece of legislation entitled investors to claim for the amount of wear and tear that the building, and the removable assets within their investment property received, which essentially reduced their asset holding costs by reducing their assessable tax income. Since the introduction of property tax depreciation there has been widespread curiosity about this type of service with mixed reviews on what is a standard to reporting and scheduling, professionals whom which are allowed to carry out the service and a standard price of the product. In 2010 the ATO implemented a limited tax agent license to those professionals who had been previously working in the field of providing tax depreciation schedules. James has been at the forefront of property allowances for over 20 years lecturing to students and investors on tax depreciation at the University of Technology, the Investors Club, the Renovator Kings and Jan Sommers property investors groups. His proactive approach plus his extensive wealth of business and marketing knowledge which has come from the experience of being founder and managing director of Australia's first national tax depreciation firms in the 1980's has set a high precedent in the industry today and has made for a perfect foundation for Property Returns to grow.
James values for tax depreciation purposes billions of dollars worth of assets every year and continually consults and advises some of Australia’s leading developers.James has written a plethora of articles covering a range of tax depreciation topics which have been regularly been published in the Australian Property Magazine, My Wealth, the Australian and the Courier Mail.

Liam Hannah
Liam has a Bachelor of Applied Science - Quantity Surveying and has been employed by International Quantity Surveying firms Rider Levett Bucknell, Davis Langdon and Seth International before starting his own Quantity Surveying practice. Being involved as a investor and developer Liam has had the opportunity to experience all the trials and tribulations that go hand in hand with property and investing. Liam’s modern day approach combined with his business acumen and natural entrepreneurial skills has repositioned Property Returns from a solid foundation to be the most pro-active and dynamic Tax Depreciation company in Australia.
